Owwwwwww Owwwwwww Owwwwwww

Yesterday I learnt an important lesson ...
Don't trap your hand in a walk in fridge because it REALLY hurts!

I am now sporting a left hand which is rather battered and bruised but thankfully not broken - a fact that I learnt after two hours of sitting at the local minor injuries unit! I am so grateful to have a facility like that nearby though because the pain had been enough to knock me sick and even one of my customers had told me to go and sit down with some sweet tea. It was a relief to be able to be seen locally rather than having to travel 20 miles to the nearest large hospital.

Anyway, no major harm done, just bruised hand and bruised pride and no knitting or crocheting for a few days :-( ...
I'll have to read Game Of Thrones instead!

Sunny Sunday Smiles

It's a gloriously sunny day in Launceston today and I'm making the most of a day off.

Hubby has already taken me out for a delicious cooked breakfast at a local garden centre.

Then we hit the shops to fill up the kitchen cupboards and plan some home decorating plans.

Now we're blasting out Bob Marley music and enjoying a beer (well, beer in his case, in my case it's a hazelnut vodka with cherry coke ;-) yum!)

Castles In The Air

How many of us get to stroll past Norman architecture on the way to work every day?
I'll admit that I don't always appreciate the world around me when I'm caught up in the day to day routine but today, when I had an extra few minutes I noticed how striking the castle looked against the morning sky.

Why not take a moment to look around yourselves, try to notice something that you would otherwise ignore or take for granted ... and I don't mean the pile of clothes that need ironing or your other half ;-)

The world seems to have gone slightly mad at the moment, the news reports of terrorist attacks, political coups and disputes may be enough to send us all into a whirl but I am trying to ground myself by appreciating what I have around me.

Have a good Saturday xx

Four seasons in one day - squelchy feet alert

So it's mid-July in the UK and that means only one thing ... torrential rain! Unfortunately from my point of view it also meant a very wet and soggy sock since I appear to have developed a hole in my work boots :-( Standing for hours in wet socks is even more rubbish when you have lame gouty feet so, now that I am home from work I am going to spend the afternoon with my feet up. Of course I don't intend to sit doing nothing, on the contrary, I'm going to watch some Time Team while I add to this gorgeous pile of crochet hexagons :-) Every cloud has a silver lining and all that ;-)

Welcome

I'm a bit of an anachronism to be honest, I live in a house FULL of modern technology but I LOVE history and traditional crafts and hobbies.
I don't always know what I am doing or where I am going but I am willing to accept that the crafting life is often part of a fairly steep learning curve. Crafting, for me at least, is frequently a form of therapy. As a mum of three who also works full time I use my time at home to create items which I think are pretty or tasty or useful or maybe a combination of the three. Join me as I continue to learn and create ... it may be a bit of a bumpy ride as I handle life's ups and downs.
